About Us New York City, 1936 - Amidst the backdrop of a Depression-ravaged city, a young artist with little more than a simple camera, a couple rolls of film, and a keen eye set out to capture what joy he could find in the events that make up the framework of peoples' lives. In the years to come, Kurt Wachsman would hone his instincts and his style, and transfer his unique vision onto film. While always willing to change with the times and use new equipment and techniques, he never forgot the basics: great photography comes from a covenant between a photographer and his subjects. Kurt knew that when he was taking pictures of someone, he needed to keep them relaxed and comfortable while simultaneously anticipating precious moments. He would not only create tens of thousands of images for his clients, but also that many fans. Years later in Southern California, Kurt's daughter, Karen Staley-Rosen, would use everything her father taught her to make her own mark. Not merely content to build on the philosophy that Kurt taught her, Karen built up the company by embracing talent all around her and making sure the finished product speaks for itself. She has mentored and worked alongside many of the best photographers in the field, and surrounded herself with an exceptional staff, most notably the family’s third generation – Karen’s energetic daughters, Kristen and Tania. This is the reason that the largest part of Wachsman-Staley’s business comes from referrals and repeat business. While a lot has changed over the last 70 years, Karen and everyone at Wachsman-Staley Photography remember what Kurt learned decades before: · Every event is unique and singularly important to the people involved – It’s our job to use our instincts and experience to know what to photograph. · Our success comes from understanding the collaboration of your needs and desires and our interpretation of your vision for the event. · Above all else, IT’S YOUR DAY! This day isn’t about us or satisfying our egos – This day is about you and this day is about what’s important to you. Wachsman-Staley Photography – The Finest in Photography Since 1936 |
